Family Therapy | MA, FL & VT

What is family therapy?
Family therapy provides a safe space for family members to address relationship challenges, improve communication, and work through difficult situations together. Sessions can include any combination of family members who want to participate. We usually work with two people coming together to work on the same goal. You get to decide what your goals are and what's most important to you.

Who can participate in family therapy?
Family therapy can involve any family members—parents and teens, adult children and parents, siblings, blended families, or any combination that makes sense for your situation. We usually work with two people coming together to work on a similar goal. You get to decide what your goals are and what's most important to you.

Some conversations are too hard to have alone. When family relationships become strained, distant, or broken, it can feel impossible to know how to move forward. Family therapy provides a safe, neutral space where family members can work together to understand what went wrong, communicate more effectively, and explore what's possible for your relationship moving forward.

You might be dealing with:

  • Years of built-up resentment or unresolved conflict
  • Major life changes that have created distance (divorce, relocation, empty nest)
  • Figuring out if reconciliation is worth pursuing
  • Addiction or mental health issues affecting the whole family
  • Adult children struggling to have healthy relationships with parents
  • Blended family challenges and adjustment difficulties
  • Past betrayals or hurts that haven't been addressed

Common areas people explore in therapy:

  • Understanding each person's perspective and needs
  • Improving communication patterns
  • Processing past hurts in a safe environment
  • Setting boundaries that work for everyone
  • Exploring what healthy relationships could look like for your family
