FAQs

What is the process to get started?

Finding the right therapist is crucial for your healing journey—therapy is never one-size-fits-all. That's why I offer a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation before we begin working together. During this call, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, address any questions you might have about the process or my practice, and determine if we're a good fit in working together.

If we both feel it's a good fit and your needs align with my areas of expertise and therapeutic approach, we'll schedule your first full appointment, typically within a week.

This initial conversation helps ensure you receive the most effective support for your specific situation and sets the foundation for a successful therapy journey.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first session is a chance for you to meet me, get comfortable, and explore what's bringing you to therapy. We'll start identifying the goals you'd like to accomplish and I can help you decide which method(s) would be most effective for you to meet those goals. Throughout this process, we'll work collaboratively—I deeply value your input because you're the expert on your own life and experiences!

Do you only treat high achiever anxiety and codependency?

No, while my areas of clinical concentration are high achiever anxiety and supporting individuals through codependent relationship patterns, my practice welcomes clients facing a diverse range of challenges. I'm passionate about guiding people toward improved emotional wellbeing across various areas, including navigating difficult relationships in your life that are not related to codependency, life transitions, managing depression, and building self-esteem and confidence. If you're feeling like I could be a good fit for you, I would highly recommend reaching out to book a free consultation!

What is therapy like?

Because everyone brings unique challenges and aspirations to therapy, each session is thoughtfully tailored to your specific needs and goals. Therapy provides a welcoming space, that's all your own, where you can speak freely about your challenges without fear of judgment. I may listen attentively, or ask thoughtful questions, and sometimes, when appropriate and needed, we may share a laugh together! I feel it's important for my client's to feel human and to feel seen for who they are fully. My role isn't to tell you what to do, but rather be a helpful guide using evidence-based therapy approaches to help you develop practical strategies that will address your specific situation and concerns.

How can therapy help me?

This is a great question, and a very common one! From what I've seen in my many years as a therapist, people want to feel better in some way - and that looks different for everyone. Depending on what brings you into your own therapy journey, therapy can help in many different ways. Maybe you need better ways to handle life's challenges, or tools to deal with everyday stress. Perhaps you're going through big changes, struggling with anxiety or depression, or trying to navigate tricky relationships. Therapy gives you space to work through your feelings, make sense of your experiences, and it's a great opportunity to get to know yourself better. Therapy can also help you explore thoughts, experiences and feelings that you might not feel comfortable sharing with others.
